GIVING A SITTING ROOM A NEW LEASE OF LIFE

I was asked to update this sitting room for a young family

The cabinetry I designed for them is painted in the same off white as most of the walls and fire surround, and a deeper tone is used to offset this on just that wall. The seat bench with storage underneath is perfect for the children to sit and relax.

Their crayons etc are stored neatly away in two drawers.

This is where they can sit back and watch what's happening outside.

Changing the dated fireplace modernised the space and with the switch of a button, allows immediate cosiness for this busy professional couple.

The three prints add colour to the room and are a nod to the client's profession as an architect.

Some fun cushions  and pops of mustard  bring extra comfort and make you want to get cosy here.

The two images below and right were taken before the project began

The oversized rug and shade bring an element of fun to this busy household (as if they needed more!) with the added advantage of tying the colour scheme together.

These neat little tables are really useful and can be stored away neatly.

The painting above the sofa that the family already owned had quite a bearing on the colour scheme and adds to the calm, gentle feel of the room.

The result is a lovely, playful space for this family to enjoy.
